Children's Table and Chair Redo

Before Christmas I made a few chair covers for some odd chairs that we would be using during the holidays to fit extra house guests at our gatherings around the house and around the table.

Whenever the smaller  grand kids come over I always like to  have a special table for them  where they can eat and play games and their parents don't have to worry about them spilling or making a mess. When I pulled out the children's table and chair set I saw this.

and this

I had bought the small table and chair set at Walgreen's about thirteen years ago and my youngest used it  for many years to eat and play on, and  when his friends would come over  it was the perfect place to play a board game or playdough. This little table has seen better days and it was time to give it a little makeover.

I didn't have a lot of time so I decided I would just make a couple of easy slipcovers for the top of the chairs and since the seat come off with just a couple of screws I went the no-sew route and covered the seat with matching fabric.

I really wanted to cover the top of the table with oilcloth, but since this "cover the table and chairs" idea was a little last minute thinking on my part I just decided to make a cute tablecloth with fabric I already had on hand.

I made contrasting piping between the top and skirt to tie it in with the chairs.

The girls had so much fun playing and eating at their special table.

Now it is time to pack it all up and store it away until their next visit, I hope that it will be soon.

This weekend we are busy packing up all the Christmas decorations and storing them in the attic.. Since I started my Christmas decorating at the last minute I am really sad to see it all  disappear.
To lift my spirits I think we will take in a movie. We have been wanting to see the Hobbit. I never finished the book when I was a teenager,so maybe I will do better with the movie.
Have a beautiful week.
Love ya,
Joanie

Hi Dawn, you are my faithful commenter. I think this little table and chairs would tie in with your buffalo check curtains. Happy New Year to you.

Thanks for visiting Anne. The pail is from Target. I can't resist their little dollar section.

Thanks for visiting Diane. I do love the color red. My little granddaughters had a great time playing at that table. I only wish they lived closer. I will be visiting your blog for sure. You are so super talented and I just love your sculptures.
